I loved those storehouses and was sorry that the railroad was not used anymore. “I painted the warehouses, but not as big as they actually were, to give enough room for the sky and the railroads. This helps the viewer imagine voyages taken in the past, or to be taken in the future, along the rails.” I loved making this piece and think it became how I wanted it to appear. I am also very happy about what happened to it: the area has been rebuilt into a new section in Freiburg with apartments, stores, restaurants, and companies. One company bought my painting, and it hangs in their entrance room as a witness of how the area once looked. “As a theme, I have been observing trees for years. I particularly love the structure of tree bark, and my aim is to capture their very different haptic texture. For Bark Game II , I let my inspiration lead to a three-dimensional work that moves between a realistic and an unrealistic point of view.” I felt great satisfaction when I f inished this piece because I tried a new technique, and the piece looks much more powerful in the third dimension! I really wanted the audience to go around it and feel good looking at its colors and haptic textures.
