101 44. Angela Treat Lyon WWW.ANGELATREATLYONART.COM CALIFORNIA, USA “At the time I painted Under the Sun , I was homeless. Out of the blue, a friend invited me to stay in her house while she went away for an extended period of time. It was midwinter in New Mexico, so not having to sleep in my car in the freezing cold was a blessing. “I was so very grateful that there are people who understand that being homeless doesn’t mean you are mentally ill or some kind of derelict; it can simply be a wrong meshing of circumstances. I had just returned from living in another state and couldn’t find a place to rent.” When I completed this piece, I felt bathed in blessings. I had been so upset and so unraveled. Having a place to settle in as I looked for long-term housing was such a relief. I felt the same way the woman in the painting looks—calm, relaxed, connected to Source, and grateful for such strong, loving allies.
