[email protected] COLORADO, USA Sue created Tracings to represent the fear she had about the idea of losing her memory. “I had gone for a walk in my neighborhood and decided to walk into a cul- de-sac I wasn’t familiar with. On my way out, I became disoriented, and the street sign I encountered was not the one I was expecting. I was very disturbed and told myself to keep walking until I recognized something. I finally did, but the experience scared me. I considered I might have more episodes like that one as I age.” After completing Tracings , I was still upset. To me, it shows distinct lines and details, but also some vague wandering elements. When I look at it, I’m reminded of my scattered thoughts and indecision. It’s still disturbing to contemplate future deterioration of my memory.
