Geneviève Attinger WWW.ATTINGER-ART-TEXTILE.ODEXPO.COM PONTIVY, FRANCE For her art quilt Linked Lives , Geneviève wanted to explore the relationship between mother and daughter. “It is a story of love and hate, identification, admiration, rejection, guilt, and more. It was very difficult for me to take my eighty-five-year-old mother in my arms, even though I loved her. I don’t really know why, but I felt guilty about it. When I was working on the quilt, I very often had tears in my eyes.” Just after completing Linked Lives , I felt a bit dissatisf ied, perhaps because I would’ve loved to have created something stronger. I think that’s because I had worked on it for a long time. Satisfaction came later, when I was able to take a step back and see how important the work was to me.
