I had only just moved to Arizona five months earlier and was starting a new teaching position. My thoughts were pretty scattered because I was building work for shows as well. I had the sudden urge to add another piece to an upcoming show. This piece was meant to be an exercise in the con- struction of an idealized figure. My goal was to make a beautiful object while combining classical and contemporary imagery.” I experienced pride, relief, and detachment when I completed this piece.
