USS Yorktown (CV-10) is an Essex-class aircraft carrier, which sailed on combat tours with the US Navy in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. The ship currently is preserved and open to the public as part of the Patriots Point museum complex near Charleston, South Carolina. CV-10 replaced Yorktown CV-5, which was sunk at the Battle of Midway. This expanded 176-page entry in the Legends of Warfare series includes 350 images. The photographs, tables, and accompanying text reveal the ship in construction, on display at Patriots Point, and of course during its long naval service in the interim. David Doyle is a professional historian and author with a focus on military vehicles. His works are noted for the variety and fidelity of the archival photography presented. He lives in Tennessee.
