L. Pickering & John Bisney, With Ed Hengeveld More than 700 images capture the history of the Apollo 7 mission, America’s triumphant return to manned spaceflight. The Apollo Photo Archive series comprises the most detailed pictorial record of the Apollo program ever created. Each mission, from Apollo 1 through 17, is featured in a single volume, each containing more than 500 photos and captions. Each mission is described, from the construction of the spacecraft and assembly of the crew, through the training, rollout, preflight festivities, countdown, launch, the flight itself, splashdown, and even postflight media appearances and related activities. October 11, 1968, and the launch of Apollo 7 marked NASA’s first manned spaceflight after the Apollo 1 disaster of January 1967. The success of Apollo 7 helped redirect the course of the Apollo program and, therefore, space history. About the Authors J. L. Pickering , who has amassed the world’s largest private archive of US human space flight images, has been conducting historical photo research on the US space program for nearly 50 years. This includes assembling, studying, and organizing a personal collection of more than 250,000 prints, transparencies, and digital files. Today he serves as a resource for authors, museums, astronauts, and others. He lives in Illinois. JohnBisney is an author, journalist, and retirednetwork news correspondent who covered the space program for more than 30 years for CNN, the Discovery Science Channel, RKO, and SiriusXM Radio. He witnessed more than 60 space shuttle launches and was one of the few broadcasters at the 1986 Challenger disaster. He holds a master of arts degree in journalism from the University of Missouri School of Journalism. He lives in the Tampa Bay, Florida, area.
