From discovering the blues in post-WWII Wales to leading one of Britain’s most enduring bands, Simmonds recounts Savoy Brown’s rise to international fame, particularly in the US, where albums such as Street Corner Talking and Hellbound Train became classics. With honesty and humor, he reflects on the ever-changing music scene, encounters with legends such as Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton, and the challenges of keeping a band together. Even after a cancer diagnosis, his passion for music never wavered. Featuring a foreword by producer Mike Vernon, MBE, and contributions from Kim's wife, Debbie, this book is filled with behind-the-scenes stories and personal reflections. A must- read for music lovers, it offers a rare glimpse into the life of a true blues-rock pioneer who played until his final note. Kim Simmonds (1947–2022) was a British blues-rock guitarist and the founder of Savoy Brown and was known for his fiery solos and pioneering British blues from the 1960s onward. Debbie Lyons Simmonds met Kim in 1991 at, as you guessed, a gig. They were together for the next 31 years, until Kim’s passing. Kim’s dream was publishing this book, and working on this has brought her even closer to him. She is thrilled to make this book a reality and is even more excited to share it with everyone. She resides in New York with her family and pets. Mike Vernon ’s credits include producing some of the all-time great artists, such as Savoy Brown, Eric Clapton, David Bowie, John Mayall, Ten Years After, Peter Green, and Fleetwood Mac. Vernon still works in music to this day, most recently with his new formed band Cat Squirrel.
