Macarons, popcorn, cupcakes, cotton candy, tiny cakes—they all deserve to be on a pedestal! tip: If you want to preserve your cake stands for multiple uses, put a piece of aluminum foil, thin cardboard, or other protective layer between your sweets and the surface of the stand to protect it from moisture and stains. 10 THE BIG BOOK OF happy crafts 9 10 8 1 0 assemble the cake stand. Sit the cup with its opening side down on your workspace, add hot glue to the base of the cup, and glue the scalloped piece in place with the scallops facing down. Put a lot of hot glue all around the edges of the cup where it meets the scalloped piece to make it really secure. Don’t worry if it looks messy— no one will be able to see it under there! 8 add glitter. If you want extra shimmer, add some glitter! IMPORTANT: See note in step 7—this decoration should be at the opening of the cup, not at the base of the cup as shown in the step photo. 9 add weight. If you’ll be placing heavy things on your stand, it’s best to glue some weight inside your cup. For example, you can add a small baggie of rice. To make sure your weight doesn’t sneak away, trace the cup opening on cardstock, cut out the circle, put the weight into the cup, and use hot glue to seal the cup opening closed with the weight inside.
